Grace Notes Message – February 27th, 2020

Dear Grace,

This week is the first of Lent. “Lent” comes from an old English word for “spring.” We prepare for Easter and the new life of spring.

Throughout Lent, I am planning a sermon series following C.S. Lewis’ The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. There are many Christian themes in this book. If you haven’t read the book, no worries – I will explain each story and it will be a small part of the sermon. Of course, each sermon will be based in a story from the Bible.

C.S. Lewis was a British author in the mid-20th century. He was an atheist in his younger years, especially after the death of his mother. He became a Christian through a mix of spiritual, emotional and intellectual experiences.

Years before becoming a Christian, Lewis first soaked in the Christian message through his love of literature, stories and myths. These stories prepared his heart for the Goood News of Jesus. Lewis later wrote that “A young man who wishes to remain a sound Atheist cannot be too careful about his reading.”

I wonder how you came to faith in Jesus? I wonder what faith questions you ask yourself today?

With love,

Natalie
